We have set up a fundraiser to improve the space at Didsbury Village War Memorial
Didsbury community organisations and local councillors are raising funds for a new Garden of Contemplation in the surrounding grounds at the Cenotaph.
Situated in the heart of the village next to Didsbury Library, the war memorial is the focal point for the community every year on Remembrance Sunday. The monument was fenced in and over recent years the surrounding area has become unkempt, overtaken by laurels and other invasive species.
The fundraiser has already raised enough funds to complete Phase 1 in early 2024. The improvements included re-modelling to create a Garden of Contemplation by clearing and levelling the area and installing new disability friendly pathways. In Phase 2 we will be creating, and improving biodiversity for birds, bees, and wildlife, planting perennial shrubs and bulbs, providing a community seating area and creating a community meeting place.
Your support and donation for this garden community project in Didsbury is appreciated. You can donate using the form below or by post to Didsbury Civic Society, The Old Parsonage, Stenner Lane, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2RQ. If you would like to volunteer please email us at info@didsburycivicsociety.org
