This visit to South Yorkshire will first stop at Elsecar in the morning for a coffee break. It has shopping in the large antiques outlet, craft workshops, cafes and heritage centre. Elsecar was created from a small village into a large industrial complex by the Earls Fitzwilliam. They did this from their splendid home a few miles away at Wentworth Woodhouse. The area once echoed with sounds of the iron works while hundreds of miners worked coal deep underground. Enjoy exploring this complex and discovering the fascinating story.
As usual a carvery lunch is included, at The Marquis Hotel.
In the afternoon we visit Wentworth Woodhouse a large Georgian Mansion with the longest frontage in Britain, including Buckingham Palace, with a guided tour included. Please note that access to the first floor of the tour is by staircase only. There are gardens to explore and tea rooms available after our tours.
